Lisa Nagy is an artist living in the beautiful, fire and flood prone Okanagan Valley, which is in spectacular British Columbia. About herself she says, ”…what? Oh, mostly paprika, and then a little cayenne. Oh, the art? That … that’s different …
I’m primarily self-taught, and I work in acrylic paint, spray paint, and alcohol inks. Other bits and pieces of media get in such as oil pastel and charcoal once in a while, too. Depends on how much coffee I’ve had. I like to try new stuff and I think for me, the lack of formal training isn’t a problem when I do, in fact, have the incredibly VAST repository of human knowledge available at my fingertips. Yaaaay, internet!
At this point in my life I think the most important things that drive the statements in my paintings are futuristic, in a sense. I have a family, and as many of us do now, I worry about what we are leaving behind us for the generations to come. I think about the things we are atoning for in our familial roots, and then when that’s too much, I think about some very pretty colours to try to calm down. All of that ends up on canvas, paper, or paper alternatives which you can then buy!”
We apologize, we did ask for a more appropriate artist’s statement, but Ms. Nagy advised “busy” and did not reply further.
Please buy her art.
